It’s official! Findings from the 2025 National Census of Villages are beginning to take form, offering mission-critical insights on Villages as an essential component of infrastructure for aging well in our communities.
On Wednesday, April 22, 2026, leaders of Village to Village Network (VtVN) and the Rutgers Hub for Aging Collaboration presented initial findings from the census to a national audience at the annual conference of the American Society on Aging. Fitting with the conference theme on belonging, they shared a poster titled “Building Communities of Belonging: ‘First Look’ Findings from the National Census of Villages.”

The poster presented findings from the Census that demonstrate ways in which Villages:
Are growing throughout the U.S.;
Are designed to promote connection through volunteers, services, and events; and
Operate in diverse ways and in partnership with other local organizations.
These findings are based on data collected with 245 Villages across the U.S. in 37 states, offering the first national “snapshot” of Villages in approximately 10 years.
