The Project. A new project will launch this August: the 2025 National Survey of Villages. We all know the saying: “If you’ve seen one Village, you’ve seen one Village.” And yet, we know that there are core trends and patterns emanating across local efforts. Led by the Rutgers University Hub for Aging Collaboration and Village to Village Network (VtVN), this project aims to survey as many operational Villages as possible.

It has been 10 years since the last national survey of Villages was conducted. It is time for refreshed data to describe the work of operational Villages today. This project will allow us to answer key questions about Villages, such as:

• What is the range of the organizational and leadership structures in Villages? 

• How do Villages structure their membership programs?

• What are their funding sources? 

• What types of services and programs do Villages most commonly provide?

• Who do they partner with?

Insights into these questions will strengthen communications and advocacy for the Village Movement at the local, state, and national levels. It also will serve as the foundation for future explorations into best practices and impact.

The Launch. Join us for a virtual event on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 (2:00 PM ET, 11:00 AM PT) to learn first-hand from the VtVN Data and Evaluation Committee and partners at Rutgers about this exciting new initiative. At this event, you will learn more about the bold goals motivating this national project and the potential contributions it stands to offer for Villages like yours. Speakers will also preview the survey itself, including how to complete the survey, the expected time it will take, and how you can sign up to participate.
